Small Shop, Big Finds!

Whether you ventured out before dawn or slept through Black Friday like I did (I was recovering from all that cooking!), I hope to see you all at Vintage Home tomorrow. Why? It's Small Business Saturday, and we want to celebrate! We'll be serving cookies and other goodies (Yum!), plus you'll earn a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to your favorite neighborhood shop--Vintage Home!

And if those aren't enough, here are a few more BIG reasons to shop Vintage Home this weekend:

1. Closet space. This charming country pine armoire is perfect for storing your extra linens.

2. Closet space. This stylish whitewashed pine armoire has shelves for all your sweaters or shoes.

3. And more closet space! This beautiful French Provencial armoire may just hold your entire wardrobe! (Or in my case, one whole season...)

The Thanksgiving Table...And Chairs!

If you're hosting Thanksgiving this year, there's probably two things on your mind: "I really hope I don't burn the turkey" and "Where is everyone going to sit?!" I can't help you with the turkey--the most I've done is shove the stuffing inside--but I do know where you can find extra seating at the last minute: Vintage Home!

We have an awesome selection of dining room chairs--both formal and casual, traditional and modern. Now is the best time to find the extra seating you need, and its just in time for the most important meal of the year!

If you ever dined at Le Bec-Fin, you may recognize these
beautiful blue velvet chairs. Recreate that dining experience
by taking home a piece of this former Philadelphia landmark.

These French Country upholstered chairs
are pretty, comfortable, and they look great
with so many different tables!

For a really big crowd, you might want to consider
using a bench. Have your guests get cozy to
maximize the space around your table.

We didn't forget the kiddie table! These petite vintage
chairs are perfect for your smallest guests!

When you run out to the grocery store this afternoon, swing by the shop and pick up the extra seating you need. Plus, we have a great selection of vintage dinnerware and serving pieces that you can stock up on. Then you can focus on what's really important--having a great holiday with your family and friends! And, of course, a perfectly cooked turkey.

"Go To Your Room!"

Do you remember being sent to your room when you were a child? I do. That was the worse punishment ever! I don't know why it was so bad. I mean, that's where all my toys were, and it was decorated exactly the way I wanted--rainbow colored heart bedding, a fat blue lamp...you get the picture.

All these years later, it shouldn't be a punishment to spend time in your bedroom, but to be honest, for some people, it still is. Why? Because it's the one room in the house that sometimes gets neglected. You know what I'm talking about...hand-me-down furniture, outdated bedding, and bare walls. We spend a lot of our energy decorating the rest of the house, but when it comes to the bedroom, sometimes we just lose steam.

We all deserve to have a bedroom we want to spend time in, so let's decorate! Start with your bedding--you'll get the most impact with this small change. Did you know that Vintage Home offers a selection of beautiful new bedding? Stop by the shop this week to see the new Kingston and Bianca collections, plus see samples of all the bedding we can order in 1-2 weeks.

And of course, while you're here, check out all of the great beds, dressers, armoires, lamps, mirrors, artwork, and other accessories that can transform your bedroom from "just so-so" into the oh-so-beautiful sanctuary--where you can send yourself!

Here Comes The Bride!

Over the weekend I heard about a bride who was making her wedding bouquet out of vintage jewelry, and I thought, "What a great idea!" Of course, I was primarily thinking of the deadline for my next blog... But then I put my bridal cap on, and I loved the idea even more! What a fun and creative way to incorporate a family heirloom (without having to put it on your wedding dress!). And when the wedding is all over with, you have a special keepsake that will last forever.

And then today by sheer coincidence (I think), I met Amy Malone, one of our customers and a bride-to-be (Congrats, Amy!). We started talking about the vintage jewelry we have in the shop, and she told me that she's planning to make her own bouquet using vintage costume jewelry. The next thing I know, we're on Pinterest together looking at sample bouquets she had pinned for inspiration. I'm attaching a few of my favorite photos, but there were literally dozens to look at--in all shapes, sizes, and colors.

Whether you're looking for wedding jewelry for yourself, your bouquet, or simply a great gift, Vintage Home is a great place to start! We have a beautiful collection of affordable vintage necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches, hairpieces, and cocktail rings, and there are always more on the way!

No Touch-ups Necessary

When I paint, I can't stand drips or nicks. That's the perfectionist in me. But when I shop, the more chips, the better! That's the realist in me. As clumsy as I am, I'm bound to scuff, scrape and ding the finish on just about everything in my path, so why not embrace it? That way, I don't have to feel bad or run to the store for touch-up paint every time things go awry.

Here are a few of my favorite chippy little pieces that you'll find at Vintage Home right now. Oh, and did I mention that they all happen to be in one of my favorite colors? Red!

In its former life, this antique pine table was red from top to bottom. Today it's only red from the waist down. Perhaps it'll lose a little more paint in its next life as your kitchen table or child's desk. Only time will tell...

This weathered vintage battery stand is now the base of a cool, industrial side table. I love that you can see the old signage right through the glass. That way you can admire it up close, far away, sitting down, or standing up!

When I said chippy, I meant chippy! I have such a soft spot for this roughed up little nightstand. You don't get this much character overnight--it took years to look this good!

Stop by the shop this week to see these perfectly chipped up pieces, and we'll show you how to work them in with your existing decor.

Weekend Arrivals!

Wondering if it's worth the trip to Vintage Home this weekend? The answer is "Yes!" (and not just because they're paying me to say that--its really true!) Check out these great new pieces that arrived just in time for your weekend visit.

Sports fans, this one's for you. Who says you need tickets to feel like you're part of the game? Pop this set of vintage stadium seats in front of your big screen TV, put on your favorite jersey and giant foam finger, and get ready to do the wave! Visit us this weekend, and you could have them home in time to watch the Eagles beat the Broncos (just a hunch).

The "Alexa" chair is available in three
great upholstery finishes (2 leather, 1 fabric).

For the less enthusiastic sports spectators, we have something a little less authentic (and a lot more comfortable!). Meet the "Alexa" chair, your new best friend. Come try her out this weekend (and the new leather "Parker" chair, too), but I'm warning you--you're gonna want to take her home with you. She's not going anywhere, but we'll order you your very own--perhaps the matching sofa and ottoman, too!
There's lots more to see, so put Vintage Home on your "To-Do" list this weekend. Our doors are open Saturday 10am-5pm and Sunday 12-4pm. See you at the shop!

Fall Fragrances Have Arrived!

Reluctant to jump into Fall? Cold weather, sun glare, school buses, parent-teacher conferences--who needs it? Of course, there's also apple cider, hay rides, pumpkins patches, and turkey dinners. Are you starting to remember why you like Fall?

Linnea's Lights is our new line of hand-
poured soy candles that you're sure to love!
If you need a little more inspiration, come check out our new selection of soy candles--they're sure to put you a Fall-friendly mood...

My picks: I'm torn between Soy'phisticated Candles' "Almond Pastries"and Linnea's Lights' "Pumpkin." They make the house smell like someone's in the kitchen baking (without the mess or the regret!)

Our soy candles make great hostess and teacher gifts, so swing by the shop to stock up on all our Fall fragrances. And don't forget to treat yourself to one (or two!) of your favorites.

My New Favorite Things!

If you know Vintage Home, than you know there is always something exciting waiting inside! I'm Kathy, your VH blogger and one of the lucky ones who spends most of their time at the shop, so I get to see everything that comes and goes. I am always falling in love with this piece and then that one--and heartbroken to see them go. But I can't fit every great piece in a one-bedroom apartment, so I'll just have to help them find a great home. Here are the newest loves of my life--and maybe yours, too.

I want to design a whole kitchen around this stunning antique pine hutch! The picture doesn't do it justice, trust me. The glass paned doors are beautifully etched in two unique designs that are worth a trip to the shop.

This leather wing back chair doesn't just look great--it's comfy, too! I'll admit, when no one's looking, I'll take a quick power nap in this beauty. Just kidding--there's never any time! We can order you your very own to take home in just 3-4 weeks.

A quick as it came in, this awesome vintage drafting table went out! If you didn't get to see it in person, you can take my word for it--this was one cool piece. Stop by the shop as often as you can, so you don't miss out on our next great find.

You know my picks of the week--what are yours? Stop by the shop this week--we're open Mon-Sat from 10am to 5pm and Sun from 12 to 4pm--and tell us what pieces you're obsessed. Better yet, why not take them home?

Summer Winds Down, and We're Geared Up!

Shore days are coming to an end, and school days are just around the corner...which makes today a great day to stop by Vintage Home. Here are three reasons why--

Bring the beach back with you! You may be lucky enough to spend summer days at the beach, but why not bring the relaxing feeling back home? We have a beautiful selection of beds, dressers, cupboards, tables, and more that will give you that sand-between-your toes feeling all year long!

Take home 60" of natural beauty with the
Florence pedestal table. We have lots of beautifully
styled chairs to compliment this stunning table.
Add beauty (and storage!) to your space
with this vintage gray and white china cabinet.

Back to school is almost here. Don't wait until the bus arrives to get ready for the new school year. Set your family up for success from the very start! We have an awesome selection of desks right now in all shapes, sizes and colors! Plus, bookshelves, chalkboards, maps, globes, and so much more.

Look! It's the "little black dress" of desks--
its simple, sleek and goes with every decor!
If seven drawers aren't enough for all
your school supplies, stash the rest in your
very own set of vintage gym lockers.
Get your child excited about geography with
this giant wall map. We've got lots of fun
things to help jazz up their study space.

New arrivals are here! We've been so busy filling the store, that we've completely run out of room! Take a break from the sun, and come see what we've been up to. Lots of new furniture, lighting and cool home decor just arrived this week--check it out!

This distressed credenza would make a great buffet
or media cabinet. The possibilities are endless...
Vintage washstand--extra kitchen storage
or brand new bar? You decide!
Imagine how much you can fit in this
charming glass-front cabinet! More styles--and
storage--just arrived.

Three great reasons to stop by Vintage Home--and seven days to do it! We're open Monday through Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 12-4pm. We hope to see you soon!
